Section 9 dispatched a field team to [Hadrapur] to investigate reports that a criminal gang called the Golden Tigers was using super-soldier type drugs.

The [Republic of Avan's] Advanced Sciences and Technology Research and Assessment Agency (ASTRAA) is in the process of developing a drug called ACHILLES R5. It took the nation's most brilliant minds years to develop the biochemical wonder, which grant the recipients astonishing celerity. However, ACHILLES R5 is unstable. The test subjects experience side effects as the molecule degrades.

The operatives were tasked with confirming if the Golden Tiger serum was derived from ACHILLES R5 and identifying the Golden Tiger's super-soldier serum production capabilities.

During the course of their investigation, the Section 9 operatives broke into a warehouse guarded by Golden Tigers, neutralized the opposition and obtained a sample of the drug. ASTRAA scientists have performed a preliminary analysis of the Golden Tiger drug and confirmed that serum was not ACHILLES R5. The combat enhancers were developed independently of the ACHILLES program.

Test subjects subjected to the Golden Tiger serum exhibited enhanced combat ability through sheer ferocity and instinct. ASTRAA analysis also shows that test subjects have a slightly accelerated metabolism which reduces the amount of time to recover from injury by a small amount.

Meanwhile, a surveillance team from an allied intelligence agency contacted Section 9, passing on intel that Simon Riese had arrived in Hadrapur and had met with the Golden Tigers big boss, Thomas Lo. Riese was supplying Thomas Lo with a powerful biochemical agent that boosted reflexes and improved combat performance.

The biochemical agent was far from perfect. The drug that the Golden Tigers used was merely reverse-engineered from samples provided by Lo. Riese pressured Lo to step up the Golden Tiger's efforts in acquiring complete Research and Development data and the source of the biochemical reagent critical to the production of the final product. Lo negotiated for some more time to break into the research laboratory. Riese disregarded Lo’s empty promises and demanded that the heist be executed immediately and executed successfully.

Strapped for time and resources, Thomas Lo tapped the team's facewoman to break into the Prometheus Consortium's corporate office and obtain R&D data and intel pertaining to Prometheus labs security.

The team formulated a plan to:
  • Double-cross Thomas Lo.
  • Infiltrate the Prometheus Consortium cororate office.
  • Determine the location of the lab.
  • Seize any scientific and technological data related to the production of the drug and prevent these same materials from falling into Lo and Riese's hands.
Section 9 HQ lost contact with the team shortly after the operatives communicated the plan to their control officer.

It is assumed that the operatives carried out the infilration but failed to complete their obectives. Our regional offices have received sketchy reports indicating that there were explosions and intense exchanges of gunfire at the Prometheus lab. Several sections of the Prometheus laboratory were gutted by fire. There were also numerous vehicular accidents and injured pedestrians within the vicinity of the Prometheus labs, probably the result of a violent chase.

Given our knowledge of Simon Riese's modus operandi, it appears that Simone Riese has struck again. By applying his twisted Midas-touch, Riese countered the operatives' efforts.

The status of the operatives is unknown. Presumably, the agents were either killed or captured. It is certainly possible that one or more of the agents escaped and are in hiding, waiting for the opportunity to contact a field office. The sad truth is that one can only hope that the operatives did not compromise the agency's security and integrity.

Section 9 has not yet received any requests for extraction.
